Last year, France fell to eventual champion Russia in the quarterfinals for the second successive year and face them again this weekend for the seventh time in Davis Cup history. Their biggest and most memorable Davis Cup clash came in 2002 when they met in the final at the Paris Omnisports Paris Bercy. Mikhail Youzhny was the hero of that final, coming back from two-sets-to-love down against Paul Mathieu in the decisive fifth rubber giving Russia its first Davis Cup title.
